Overview


Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to use your administrative skills? You can make an impact by supporting the overall Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue mission as an Administrative Assistant in Government and Public Affairs!

The Administrative Assistant in this position will support TVF&R’s Government and Public Affairs Division, which includes Media Services and Community Risk Reduction. This individual will help organize community events including logistics, promotion, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, and engaging with residents. In addition, this individual will help maintain contact databases, create PowerPoint presentations, design flyers, track and order event materials, edit documents, and support internal communication activities.

Example of Duties

The responsibilities for this position may include (but are not limited to):

  • Scheduling and supporting community events such as fire station open houses, tours, and safety fairs.
  • Publishing content to TVF&R’s Briefing Tool.
  • Maintaining city and public information contact databases.
  • Creating or editing flyers and content for external newsletters.
  • Contributing content to TVF&R’s digital and social media platforms.
  • Supporting budget activities.
  • Organizing public education and community event materials.

Qualifications

EDUCATION
High School graduate. Associate degree or supplemental training in advanced office skills preferred.

EXPERIENCE
Two (2) years of experience in administrative support work.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Solid knowledge of and ability to operate a personal computer and standard o?ce software applications in addition to any specialized software necessary for the performance of job duties.
  • Intermediate skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of standard o?ce procedures as well as of standard business etiquette.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines simultaneously. Ability to e?ectively prioritize workload under general guidance and complete duties and assignments with considerable accuracy and timeliness.
  • Ability to work calmly in stressful situations with frequent interruptions and remain calm in emergent situations.

Supplemental Information

Compensation
The monthly salary range within a step system for this position is $4,245 – $5,744 per month. The starting pay assignment, based on a candidate’s bona fide factor analysis in accordance with the District’s pay equity system and the Oregon Equal Pay Act, would be no higher than $5,091 per month.
